St. Lawrence University has an opening for a full-time seasonal Catering Cook position in Dining and Conference Services. The person in this position is responsible for preparing all recipes and final products for scheduled catered events including Presidential events. Develops recipes for the Dining Service unit according to the standards of St Lawrence University. Must be flexible to work varied hours to meet the needs of planned events. Works under the direction of the Production Manager, Associate Director and the Assistant Catering Manager. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma (or equivalent) required. Experience in upscale food preparation and presentation necessary. Three years prior cooking or chef experience in an upscale restaurant or catering is preferred. Will consider successful completion of an externship or internship in fine dining in place of the three years experience. Ability to understand and adjust recipes required. Work independently and well under pressure. Operate standard cooking machinery and equipment. Move 25 pounds a minimum of 10 feet. Must be able to meet the university’s requirements to be authorized to drive a university vehicle. Serve Safe certification preferred.
